Zero Draft
For this assignment I was thinking of writing something similar to what Edward Abbey wrote in that i intend to do a journal entry of a day or two when I was in touch with nature. I think that I will talk about my thoughts during the experience as well as talk about what Emerson, Whitman, or Thoreau would have thought. I also intend to include views on society and consumerism. I also will include quotes from the writings of these authors and how they relate to my experiences as well as interpret and explain them as well as their significance to my story.

This sounds like a good idea, I am basically doing the exact same thing. I don't know for this story line though if it would be easier to actually have the three authors with you or just to reflect on their thoughts while in the solitude of nature? It is a very concise "zero" draft but I think you are headed in the right direction. Also thre are many possibilities in this prompt as far as going out to be in touch with nature. For you personally I would right about some epic hunting adventure or... fly fishing or something that you can really relate to. It is a good plan though and I think if you stick with something you really know this essay will be easy for you.
ReplyDeleteGood idea, I like the whole getting in touch with nature. Think about the technology they had in their time and see if any quotes still are true, or false, in the mordern world. I also agree with Conner about going on an epic adventure or something like that, it will make your plot better and you'll be able to write more
ReplyDeleteI like it. As Conner said, you should make sure to connect it to something you are passionate about (hunting etc.) This will not only make it much more personal, but it will make it 43287492374932 times easier for you to write. OH! maybe you could do journal entries for two different days, one when you were in Nature and one that is like a typical day at school or something. Then you can have the E W and T comment on the society and consumerism throughout those days? Idk, it's just an idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually a lot like what I did, however I am not going to have their thoughts on what I do. So I like how we have the same structure but they are still going to turn out way different.
